Lassonde Pappas & Co. is seeking a Yard Jockey (CDL Class A) to support operations in our Hendersonville, NC yard. The role involves operating a spotter truck, coordinating with dispatch, and ensuring safe vehicle operations in a fast-paced yard environment.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of yard jockey experience, a CDL Class A, and a commitment to food safety and quality. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits in a growth-oriented company.

Qualifications

• One year of yard jockey operator experience required.

Responsibilities

• Correctly confirms the safe operational condition of vehicles and/or equipment before and after use.
• Ensure vehicles and/or equipment pass seal inspections.
• Work with dispatch and warehouse staff regarding communicating, sequencing, and movement coordination.
• Safely operate material handling equipment to load or unload materials and ensure proper closure of the trailer as necessary.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the trailer yard through meticulous attention to detail and daily yard audits.
• Accountable for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements for their position.
• Notify management about actual or potential food safety issues.
• Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their position.
• Empowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of work.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned

POSITION SUMMARY

The Yard Jockey will be responsible for assisting operations in an active trailer yard, performing a variety of duties including operating a spotter truck. This role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and is based out of our Hendersonville, North Carolina location.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of experience as a yard jockey operator required

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

FREQUENT:

sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

OCCASIONAL:

squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

VISION:

Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

HEARING:

Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
