Job summary

Interstate Waste Services seeks a yard jockey to safely move and position equipment in the yard. The role requires attention to safety and compliance with DOT/OSHA regulations as you back up, inspect, and service customer accounts.

Candidates should be at least 21, possess a CDL A and a valid driver’s license, and have a clean MVR. Experience with refuse operations is preferred, with weekend/holiday work possible.

Qualifications

• 21 Years of Age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• CDL A license needed.
• Clean MVR.
• Experience as a Driver or Helper for a refuse company preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations.
• Meet physical and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Back up maneuvers with high precision and safety in the yard.
• Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts as needed.
• Complete pre- and post- trip inspections on vehicles.
• Ensure trucks comply with IWS safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local laws.

Essential Job Summary:

The yard jockey is responsible for safely operating and moving equipment as need in the yard.

Essential Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to successfully perform this job.
• Our drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Driver pre and post inspections required.
• Drivers are responsible for ensuring their truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
• Valid Drivers License
• CDL A
• Clean MVR
• Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred
• Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
