Job summary

Turkey Hill Dairy in Conestoga, PA, is seeking a Yard Jockey to operate tractor-trailers during nighttime hours (10:00pm–6:00am). You will drive to designated bays, inspect trailers, log daily activity, and coordinate with the Shipping Clerk to move product safely and efficiently.

Candidates must have a Class A CDL, be 21+, pass a DOT medical, and work well in a team. The role requires GMP and FSMA compliance, safe handling of goods, and maintaining a clean, safe workplace while supporting

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Valid medical certification required.
• Must work in a team environment.

• Perform duties in GMP and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailers to designated bays or spots according to warehousing and production needs.
• Inspect loaded trailer temperatures and trailer for defects; report issues.
• Log daily activity using Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
• Take direction from Shipping Clerk for assigned moves.
• Maintain fuel, oil, and water levels in units.
• Shuttle product/materials to off-site warehousing/drop-off sites as assigned.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Comply with GMP, FSMA, SQF, and safety regulations.
• Support Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety and Quality initiatives.
• Engage in cross-functional teams to improve processes and add value.

Monday night to Saturday morning, 10:00pm to 6:00am

The Yard Jockey makes an impact by

• Drive tractor-trailers to designated bay or spot according to needs of warehousing and production in a timely manner.
• Inspect loaded trailer temperature gauges to ensure proper temperatures are maintained before the driver’s scheduled arrival time.
• Inspect truck for defects before and after trips notify the Garage department of any mechanical problems.
• Take direction from Shipping Clerk for assigned moves via radio communication.
• Utilize Electronic Logging Device (ELD) to log daily activity.
• Maintain fuel, oil, and water levels in all units, as assigned.
• Responsible to shuttle product/materials to and from off-site warehousing and/or drop-off sites, as assigned.
• Maintain orderly and clean work environment.
• Perform all duties in compliance with all corporate and regulatory quality, GLP, and safety regulations.
• Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations.
• Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety and Quality.
• Demonstrate the ability to engage work in department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer.
• Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles.

Physical Demands -

The physical requirements for a Department of Transportation (DOT) job, particularly for commercial vehicle drivers, are designed to ensure that drivers are fit to safely operate their vehicles. Here are some key physical requirements:

• General Health: Drivers must be in good overall health, free from medical conditions that could impair their ability to drive safely.
• Vision: Drivers must have at least 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, and a field of vision of at least 70 degrees in the horizontal meridian in each eye. They must also be able to recognize the colors of traffic signals.
• Hearing: Drivers must be able to perceive a forced whisper at a distance of at least 5 feet, with or without a hearing aid.
• Blood Pressure and Pulse: These must be within normal ranges to ensure cardiovascular health.
• Physical Abilities: Drivers must be able to walk, bend, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel daily.
• Drug and Alcohol Testing: Drivers must pass a pre-employment drug screen and are subject to random testing throughout their employment1.

These requirements are part of the DOT physical exam, which is a mandatory health check for commercial drivers to ensure they can handle the physical demands of their job

• The employee is required to wear mandated PPE based on assigned job area.
• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in a manufacturing environment for 8+ hours.
• The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks.
• Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks.
• The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.
• Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required.
• Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must have ability to work rotating or non-traditional shifts as needed, including overtime as required by business needs.
• Must be able to work in an environment that contain allergens such as Milk, Soy, Wheat, Peanut, Treenuts, Egg, Shellfish, and Fish.
• Must be able to work in the environment for the position, which may range from extreme heat to extreme cold or from wet/humid to dry/arid.
