Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a Yard Foreman to lead all yard activities at our lumber/building materials operation. You will supervise workers, coordinate material handling, loading/unloading, and assist customers in the yard to ensure efficient stock movement.

Qualifications include prior lumber or building supplies experience, a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, forklift operation, and ability to cut beams.

Qualifications

• Previous lumber or building supplies experience strongly desired.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Qualified to operate a forklift, and assist when needed.
• Able to assist in cutting beams when needed.
• CDL license with proper endorsements is a plus; able to meet US DOT regulations when driving a truck.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all yard activities and workers handling materials, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and stock maintenance.
• Load/unload trucks (vendor and BGS) as needed.
• Unload and secure train cars (as required).
• Maintain yard cleanliness by directing laborers on clean-up details.
• Responsible for snow removal.
• Assist customers in the yard.
• Ensure material is stocked and handled properly.
• Conduct or supervise cycle counts from all yard areas including sheds and warehouses.
• Involved in hiring yard personnel (e.g., interviews, road tests for drivers, forklift skills tests).
• Train yard personnel on processes and procedures for their roles.
• Maintain control of all personnel in the yard under his/her direction.
• Other duties as requested.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous lumber or building supplies experience is strongly desired.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Qualified to operate a forklift, and assist when needed.
• Able to assist in cutting beams when needed.
• Valid NJ CDL license with proper endorsements, clean driving record, and ability to meet all US DOT physical regulations to ssist with driving a truck when needed is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The position could involve standing, walking, reaching, lifting, bending, crouching, climbing, pushing, pulling and sitting for long periods of time throughout the day.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Exposed to cold weather in the winter and hot weather in the summer.
