About the Position
We are looking for a Yard Driver to manage the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard.
Responsibilities
- Safely back various size trailers into assigned dock/yard spaces, engage dock locks, chocks, and deploy trailer stands.
- Park and organize trailers on the warehouse yard.
- Mount and dismount the yard spotter frequently and slide trailer tandems alone.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractor, complete DVIRs, and use YMS or applicable tools to move inbound and outbound trailers.
- Assist in refueling yard tractors and operate forklift to move shipments between trailer movements.
- Coordinate with office clerk on trailer movements and prioritize movements to prevent downtime for warehouse associates.
- Complete all system and manual reports/logs accurately and timely.
- Operate all equipment safely, observing traffic regulations, and maintain equipment cleanliness.
- Report unsafe conditions, injuries or damage to management.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable spotting experience.
- Minimum six months of related experience or training in a distribution environment.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Pass company physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Willingness to work in inclement weather.
- No accidents and no more than two minor moving violations in the last three years.
