Job summary

Kenco Group is hiring a Yard Driver with a CDL A to safely move trailers and operate a forklift in the yard. You will back trailers, manage yard organization, and support dock operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL with at least 2 years of driving and 6 months in distribution, plus DOT physical, drug screen, and background checks. Inclement weather work is required and travel for fueling/maintenance may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must have a class "A" CDL with 2 years driving experience.
• Minimum of six months related experience or training in a distribution environment.
• Must pass DOT physical, drug screen and background check.
• Willing to work in inclement weather, if necessary.
• No accidents and no more than two minor moving violations for the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Back trailers into dock/yard spaces and engage dock locks, chocks, and trailer stands as needed.
• Park and organize trailers on the yard.
• Operate yard spotter and forklift as required.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractor and complete DVIRs.
• Use YMS to manage inbound/outbound trailer movements and coordinate with office staff.
• Assist refueling of yard tractors and ensure equipment is safe and clean.
• Coordinate trailer movements with office staff to prevent downtime for warehouse teams.
• Complete all reports and logs accurately and on time.
• Travel on public roads to fuel or maintenance locations as needed.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

About the Position

The Yard Driver - CDL A is responsible for safe and efficient movement of trailers in the yard. May also be required to operate a forklift to move products or shipments.

Functions

• Safely backs various size trailers into assigned dock/yard spaces, engages dock locks, and/or chocks, and deploys trailer stands for all trailers spotted to the dock.
• Parks and organizes trailers on the warehouse yard.
• Mount and dismount the yard spotter frequently and slide trailer tandems alone
• Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard tractor and fill out DVIR’s
• Utilizes YMS (or applicable tools) to make inbound and outbound trailer movements.
• Assist the refueling of yard tractors
• Operate forklift to move shipments between trailer movements.
• Coordinates with office clerk on trailer movements. Prioritizes movements to ensure no down time for warehouse associates.
• Required to follow company policy, participate in required trainings and keep truck clean.
• Inspect trailers before putting them on the dock
• Completes all system and manual reports/log accurately and timely.
• Operates all equipment in a safe manner, observing all traffic regulations.
• Accountable for all assigned tools and equipment.
• Reports any unsafe conditions, injury or damage to management
• Travels on public highway to obtain fuel or to take to maintenance facility
• May need to haul to trailer, drop yard or overflow warehouse
• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
