Position Pays - $21.25 per hour

Purpose

Responsible for moving tractors and trailers on the premises, starting refrigeration units, preparing trucks for deliveries.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

1. Sets tractor trailer combinations for loading product scheduled for delivery.
2. Starts refrigeration units; checks units periodically.
3. Pulls loaded trailers away from dock and secures trailer doors.
4. Coordinates loading schedules with warehouse supervisors.
5. Ensures trucks have received pre-trip inspection prior to driver departure.
6. Notifies drivers of potential late load situations.
7. Ensures returning trucks are refueled, if necessary.
8. Assists warehouse personnel with unloading/cleaning trailers.
9. Operates powered industrial equipment such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts, as necessary.
10. Performs other duties as necessary and required.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Must be able to pass a written exam and road test.

Required Knowledge

Understanding of related computer applications. Good judgment is required, as supervision may not always be immediate.

Experience Required

Preferably a minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor trailer. Must be 21 years of age.

Skills/Abilities

• Ability to speak, read, and write English well.
• Safe driving skills and ability to operate large tractor trailers, forklifts, and related delivery equipment.
• Ability to read maps and written directions.
• Ability to pass a post-offer physical and drug test, and participate in random drug and alcohol testing as required by law.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
