Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a Yard Coordinator for the Truck Shop in San Diego. You will help organize the yard, assist with loading and unloading equipment, and support sales and service teams.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a clean CA driver’s license, and forklift/scissor lift certification within 30 days. Strong communication and multitasking abilities are essential. Bilingual blessings are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Forklift and Scissor Lift Certification within 30 days of employment.
• Able to demonstrate high proficiency in computer/phone applications.
• Must have a mobile phone that can upload apps and take pictures.
• Excellent communication ability and strong customer-relations skills.
• Basic hand tools are preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Assist the sales department and service department with loading/off-loading of equipment.
• Assist customers with unloading and unhitching equipment.
• Communicate status of loading/off-loading equipment.
• Clean various parts and equipment using wash/steam racks and chemicals.
• Keep yard neat, clean, and organized; enforce yard traffic policies and speed limits.
• Maintain, clean, and report issues with Truck Shop equipment and tooling.
• Dispose of shop waste, oil, coolant, filters, and trash.
• Deliver and pick up parts/tools to customers and technicians across Southern California.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY:

By the guidance of the Truck Shop Manager, this position exists to ensure the Truck Shop and campus are organized, clean, and free of trash/ debris to improve productivity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist the sales department and service department, with loading/ off-loading of equipment.
2. Assists customers with needs such as unloading and unhitching equipment.
3. Responsible for communicating status of loading and off-loading equipment.
4. Clean various parts and equipment, utilizing the wash rack, steam rack, or various other chemicals.
5. Keeps yard neat, clean, and organized. First line of communication on all yard traffic policies and adherence to speed limits.
6. Maintain, clean and report any issues with Truck Shop equipment and tooling.
7. Contributes to team effort by disposing of shop waste, oil, coolant, filters and trash.
8. Deliver and pick-up parts and/or tooling to customers and technicians throughout Southern California, utilizing a company vehicle.
9. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Must have High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
2. Must have a valid California Class "C" Driver's License with a clean driving record.
3. Must be able to be Forklift and Scissor Lift Certified within 30 days of employment.
4. Able to demonstrate high proficiency in computer/phone applications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Walking: Moves about on foot often up and down stairs.
2. Handling: Works with hands.
3. Lifting: Raises or lowers parts weighing up to 50lbs. Frequent exertion.
4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing: Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Vision: Reads paperwork and records on the computer.
8. Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.
9. Sitting: Sits at desk for minimal amount of time.
10. Climbing: Climbs on and off equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temp/Weather: Works in both inside and outside all weather environments.
