Job description

Position Summary:

In this role you will be the primary contact for all yard activity relating to the movement of trucks, trailers, freight, and traffic for drivers including trailer location / rotation.

Schedule: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM 2 on 2 off with alternating weekend work

Compensation: $22.00 per hour with $0.75 shift differential

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Creates yard layout and trailer movement schedule (known as "shunt schedule")
  2. Interfaces with Security as needed regarding safety, accidents and customer policy
  3. Conducts yard audits and ensures accuracy of information in internal and/or external electronic systems through accurate data entry and audits
  4. Performs necessary reporting functions
  5. Accountable for maintaining a safe work environment
  6. Meets deadlines for reports and activities
  7. Adherence to company guidelines and expectations
  8. Other projects as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  2. Experience using a dolly crank & bolt cutters required
  3. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office
  4. Entry level skills with Outlook and Inter/Intranet use
  5. Organizes own work and the work of others to achieve goals in a timely manner
  6. Assess situations to determine the importance and urgency; determine and act on next steps or escalate as required
  7. Reviews, selects and disseminates information regarding key technologies, best practices, and tools to others in the group
  8. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others in a team environment
  9. May lead small groups in work function or across functions
  10. Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems
  11. Determines appropriate next steps, manage multiple functions and executes deliverables in a timely manner
  12. Works well with limited supervision. Exercises strong time management skills.
  13. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  14. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  15. Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
