Qualifications

Must have High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
Must have a valid California Class "C" Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Forklift certification within 30 days of employment.

Ability to multi‑task.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the Return to Rent Ready (R2R) process for inbound rentals and prepare units for outbound delivery.
Inspect and fuel equipment; assist yard operations and washing as needed.
Communicate inbound equipment statuses to support prompt rental invoicing.
Perform hazmat, hazwaste, storm water, and daily forklift safety inspections.
Maintain a neat, clean, and organized yard and enforce safety/ traffic policies.
Assist the branch manager with communicating Hawthorne safety practices to customers.
Assist walk‑in and will call customers with rental needs and equipment handling.
Operate rental and yard equipment safely throughout the yard.
Determine equipment condition on return and report damage or needed repairs.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Service Manager, this position ensures the timely Return to Rent Ready (R2R) of all inbound returned rentals, including all elements of the R2R process and preparation of outbound units scheduled for delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform equipment fueling and inspections when equipment enters the yard. Prepare equipment for rental and staging. Will be asked to perform all yard functions at times including washing equipment.
Responsible to communicate inbound equipment statuses and conditions in an effort to achieve prompt rental invoicing.
Perform the following environmental inspections: hazmat, hazwaste, storm water compliance, daily forklift inspections.
Anticipate rental order needs such as bucket and work tool sizes and types.
Keep yard neat, clean, and organized. First line of communication on all yard traffic policies and adherence to speed limits.
Assist branch manager with communicating to customers all Hawthorne safety practices and requirements.
Assist walk‑in and will call customers with rental needs such as unloading and unhitching equipment.
Will need to operate all rental and yard equipment safely throughout the yard as needed.
Determine equipment condition upon return and report any damage or repair work necessary.
Contribute to team effort by communicating actions, accomplishing related results as needed, and maintaining a safe work environment.
On occasion may assist facilities maintenance and building maintenance needs.
Will need to operate and understand CAT Inspect or other types of digital photo or inspection related programs.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Must have High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
Must have a valid California Class "C" Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Must be able to be Forklift Certified within 30 days of employment.
Must be computer literate.
Must have good communication skills and business etiquette.
Ability to multi‑task.
