Job summary

Mead Lumber Company in Billings, MT is seeking a dependable Yard Loader to safely load building materials for customers, assist with deliveries, and keep the yard organized. You will learn products, follow procedures, and work with the team to ensure fast, accurate service.

This role requires a valid driver's license, the ability to lift 50+ pounds, and comfort working in all weather. Forklift experience is a plus; we value reliability, safety, and a willingness to grow with our employee-owned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Load customer orders and materials safely and accurately.
• Receive and unload vendor deliveries.
• Stock and organize materials in yard per procedures.
• Label and track special-order materials.
• Maintain yard cleanliness and organization.
• Operate equipment safely according to protocols.
• Assist customers and respond to daily needs.
• Record returns and manage returns area as required.
• Perform duties in all weather conditions.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to safely and efficiently load building materials for customers. Additional duties include receiving and unloading vendor deliveries, stocking and organizing materials, labeling and tracking special‑order materials, and maintaining overall yard cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
• Unload/Load customer orders accurately in accordance with paperwork/invoices.
• Organize, label, store materials in accordance with protocols.
• Safely operate equipment.
• Follow yard loading and delivery procedures.
• Accurately record all merchandise returns on a credit memo, put materials in designated return area and ensure return to vendor.
• Listen and work with customers to fulfill their daily needs.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Perform duties in ALL types of weather conditions.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, And Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Desire to learn and grow professionally.
• Ability to react quickly to problems and respond to them accurately and professionally.
• Ability to stand/walk for 4‑10 hours daily.
• Self‑motivated and organized.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Physical strength to lift and carry 50+ pounds at times.
