Job summary

The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Y Kids Associate to assist in developing and coordinating quality programs for children in the Y Kids Area, while upholding health and safety standards.

Role involves coordinating activities, supervising children, maintaining records, and delivering friendly service to families, with an emphasis on safety, inclusion, and teamwork. Flexible schedule and staff meetings included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work well with children of various ages.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule.
• Capable of working as a team player.
• Ability to maintain safe environment.
• Certification in First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and CPR-PR within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate educational, age-appropriate activities for children in the Y Kids Area
• Maintain health and safety standards of the Y Kids Area
• Provide superior customer service to members and their children
• Implement assigned programming for staff children
• Maintain accurate records relating to attendance, check in and first aid
• Provide care and supervision of children in the Y Kids Area with emphasis on overall safety and wellness
• Maintain Quality Assurance by ensuring cleanliness of toys and room and order throughout the Y Kids Area
• Provide positive daily interaction with members and children (greet each child/parent as they enter and leave)
• Communicate appropriately with other staff members in a positive manner
• Attend staff meetings and training events
• All YMCA staff are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive environment. This includes following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members

Overview

Under the direction the Y Kids Coordinator and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Y Kids Associate is responsible for assisting with developing and coordinating quality programs for children, while ensuring standards of health and safety are met.
