Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an X-ray Diffraction Scientist to perform materials characterization at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in support of the United States Navy. You will conduct XRD measurements, analyze structural data, and interpret results to inform material selections and production engineering processes.

Qualifications

• Requires at least a Bachelor's in a related field with 6+ years of experience; or a Master's with 4+ years; or a PhD with 1+ year; or senior engineer status at the Company.
• Experience with DOE/DoD or Nuclear Navy programs is preferred.
• Strong proficiency with X-ray diffraction techniques and materials characterization.

Responsibilities

• Perform X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements on materials for naval applications.
• Analyze structural data and interpret results to inform material selections and production processes.
• Collaborate with materials scientists, production engineers, and fleet support teams to solve complex materials challenges.
