Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc invites an Ultrasound Technologist in McKinney, TX to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures under radiologist supervision, following established protocols, and to assist with US biopsy procedures.

You will operate imaging equipment, document results, maintain equipment and supplies, communicate findings to the radiologist, ensure patient comfort, and uphold safety standards including high-level probe disinfection with Trophon.

Qualifications

• ARDMS registration in good standing; physics, vascular and abdominal credentialing preferred.
• Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist, performs the full range of diagnostic Ultrasound procedures as per the established Radiologist protocols. Assists physicians with invasive US biopsy procedures.
• Performs and evaluates ultrasound image exams providing accurate documentation and images of procedure results.
• Communicates pertinent information to the Radiologist regarding the procedure and findings.
• Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment including transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, RIS and PACS system.
• Maintains inventory of all required procedure supplies.
• Keeps exam room orderly and safe.
• Explains the ultrasound process to the patient and answers questions to alleviate anxiety.
• Operates RIS to enter orders and charge procedures.
• Displays strong interpersonal skills with patients and peers.
• Reports hazardous conditions or equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Attends safety trainings and describes responsibilities related to safety hazards.
• Maintains proper working condition of all equipment; reports malfunctions.
• Maintains competencies in all Ultrasound procedures.
• Assists in other Imaging department areas when not performing Ultrasound.
• Respects patient dignity and maintains a courteous hospital environment.
• Operates and maintains high level disinfection of all probes via Trophon.

Qualifications

Technologists must be registered and in good standing with the ARDMS with credentialing in physics, vascular and abdominal preferred.

Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.

Responsibilities

• Under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist, performs the full range of diagnostic Ultrasound procedures as per the established Radiologist protocols. Assist physicians with invasive US biopsy procedures.
• Performs and evaluates ultrasound images exams providing accurate documentation and images of procedure(s) results. Communicates pertinent information to the Radiologist regarding the procedure & findings.
• Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment to include transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, RIS and PACS system.
• Maintains inventory of all required procedure supplies.
• Maintains exams room in an orderly and safe condition.
• Comprehensively explains the ultrasound process and procedure to the patient and answers any questions the patient has regarding the procedure to alleviate any patient anxiety
• Accurately operates all functions of the RIS system to include entering orders and charging of all procedures.
• Displays superior interpersonal skills with patients and peers.
• Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor.
• Attends all required safety training programs and describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
• Maintains proper working condition of all equipment; promptly reports any equipment variances or malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Maintains competencies in all Ultrasound procedures.
• Assists in other areas of the Imaging department when not performing Ultrasound procedures.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous hospital environment.
• Operate and maintain high level disinfection of all probes via Trophon.
