Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX, at Dell Seton Medical Center, is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiography and support patient care in the Diagnostic Radiology department.

Responding to provider orders, you will position patients, manage exposure factors, and ensure image quality while following radiation safety guidelines. This full-time daytime role supports a collaborative team in a faith-based health system known for growth and community care.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date.
  • ARRT Radiologic Technologist in Radiography credentialed before hire date.
  • ARRT General Practice credentialed before hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Take radiologic films and provide quality images for physician diagnosis.
  • Position patients for imaging and select exposure factors accurately.
  • Administer contrast media and medications per scope and regulations.
  • Monitor patient and protocols and suggest updates as needed.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures to minimize exposure.
  • Submit high-quality images and patient data to PACS promptly.
  • Ensure equipment functions properly and report issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized department and storage areas.
  • Position patients and select parameters accurately.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

Take radiologic films providing quality images to physicians to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.

  • Prepare and position patients for imaging and select exposure factors accurately.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observe patient during procedure and report abnormal activity. Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as warranted.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
  • Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in General Practice credentialed from the Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
