Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an Inventory Control professional in Decatur, AL to maintain accurate records, manage cycle counts, and optimize stock across on-site and offsite storage facilities.

You will collaborate with production, procurement, and IS teams to ensure reliable inventory data, support material flow, and drive continuous improvement in accuracy and efficiency. Strong organizational skills and ERP experience are required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and data entry for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Manage Cycle Count Program; schedule counts, reconcile variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee inventory organization and offsite storage to optimize space and material flow, including VMI where applicable.
  • Review inventory data and transactions; implement controls to ensure accuracy and traceability.
  • Coordinate with receiving to support efficient production and proper storage of inventory.
  • Develop and distribute inventory reports, metrics, and actionable recommendations.
  • Promote safety culture; document incidents and ensure PPE and safe handling practices.
  • Collaborate with IS and stakeholders to select and maintain inventory management systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Description:

Maintain accurate inventory records and analyze inventory levels to ensure materials are available to support manufacturing operations. Partner with production, procurement, and shipping/receiving teams to resolve inventory issues, optimize stock levels, and improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform data entry into inventory management system for raw materials, work-inprocess, and finished goods.
  • Manage Cycle Count Program, schedule counts, reconcile physical inventory to system records, analyze variances, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and comply with inventory control procedures.
  • Oversee inventory organization and location management including offsite storage facilities to maintain inventory accuracy, optimize space utilization, and support efficient material flow, including vendor managed inventory (VMI) solutions.
  • Conduct review of inventory data and system transactions, implement controls to maintain accurate, reliable, and traceable inventory records.
  • Coordinate with receiving department to support efficient production to properly store, organize, and clearly identify inventory.
  • Develop and distribute inventory reports, metrics, and recommendations to support operational decision-making.
  • Support and promote safety culture and environment, document incidents and inspections, keep certifications current, reinforce Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and material safe handling practices, and contribute to and participate in Safety Toolbox Talks.
  • Partner with Information Service (IS) team and manufacturing stakeholders to select, implement, and maintain inventory management systems to support accurate inventory control and efficient material flow, aligned with company security protocols.
  • Identify, contribute enhancements, and implement approved process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy, efficiency, and overall inventory control.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program with minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices and basic logistics processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations and production scheduling
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or inventory management systems desired
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and able to quickly adapt and prioritize responsibilities while working in fast-paced environment
  • Good judgment to solve problems, elevate issues, and request prioritization of responsibilities
  • Able to apply active listening skills, learn and process information quickly, ask clarifying questions, and follow tasks through to completion
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Quick learner to adopt processes and technology
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with continuous improvement tools and methodologies
  • Limited travel
