Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, part of HII, seeks a training programs specialist to plan, develop, and coordinate in-house product training for field support personnel and customers. You will obtain information, prepare materials, develop course content, determine methodology, and coordinate training aids.

Conducts training sessions and evaluates effectiveness, updating content as needed. The role requires a bachelor’s degree with 3 years exempt experience, or a master’s with 1 year exempt

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years exempt experience; Master's degree and 1 year exempt experience.
• Equivalent: NNS Apprentice School graduate.
• Equivalent: High school plus 5 years in relevant fields.
• Navy Nuclear Power School graduate eligible for credit.
• Equivalents: 3 years in manufacturing/shipbuilding/military roles.

The Role

Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

Must Have

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of exempt experience; Master's degree and 1 year of exempt experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to a bachelor's degree to meet minimum qualifications:

NNS Apprentice School graduate

High school and 5 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School

The following may be used as equivalent to the number of exempt years of experience required, in addition to the education requirement above: 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
