Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking an Radiologic Technologist for the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. You will perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures to aid diagnosis, while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedures.

The role requires an Associate's degree in Radiologic Sciences and ARRT registration with a commitment to timely, accurate RIS documentation and adherence to Radiation Protection Plans.

Qualifications

• ARRT registered in Radiography; registry-eligible must register within 12 months of hire.
• 2 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures for diagnosis.
• Assess patient and review orders or charts.
• Prepare patient for the procedure and answer questions.
• Minimize patient discomfort and preserve privacy during exams.
• Record exam times accurately in RIS.
• Maintain safe environment with radiation protection practices.
• Use shielding and dosimeters appropriately.
• Monitor exam timeliness and quality of care.
• Submit work orders when equipment is down.
• Other duties as assigned.

Facility: Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina. Department: CFV Outpatient Imaging. Job Family: Allied Health. Work Shift: Days (United States of America).

Summary

Perform all radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures for the diagnosis of specific diseases or conditions.

Major Job Functions

• Perform all procedures designated with the Diagnostic Section of Radiology
• Assess patient, review physician order or patient chart as appropriate
• Prepare patient for the procedure, answer any questions or refers questions to the radiologist assigned
• Take all appropriate steps to minimize discomfort during radiographic examinations and provide privacy of the patient
• Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist
• Provide safe environment to include, but not limited to radiation exposure, infection control guidelines and Universal Precautions
• Comply with Radiation Protection Plan, including proper use of shielding and dosimeter usage
• Monitor timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals
• Perform QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality, and the correct presentation state) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation
• Submit work orders for Clinical Technology Services when equipment is down
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and Formal Training:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited program in Radiologic Sciences required
  • ARRT (Radiography) registered required
  • New graduates that are registry eligible must be registered by ARRT in Radiography within 12 months of hire date required
• Work Experience:
  • 2 years of experience preferred
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Good patient care, knowledge of growth and development and understanding of the range of treatment needed for all age groups
• Physical Requirements:
