Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, part of Cape Fear Valley Health System, is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for evening shifts in Radiology. You will perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures for diagnostic purposes and ensure patient safety and comfort during exams.

Requirements include an Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences and ARRT registration, with 12‑month registry deadline for new grads.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Radiologic Sciences program.
  • ARRT (Radiography) registered.
  • New graduates registry eligible must be registered within 12 months of hire date.
  • 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Positive interpersonal and communication skills; good patient care for all ages.
  • Physical ability to stand/walk long periods; lift up to 100 pounds; assist in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures for diagnostic purposes.
  • Prepare patients and address questions or refer to radiologist as needed.
  • Record exam start/end times in RIS for timely study access.
  • Maintain radiation safety and infection control; use shielding and dosimeters.
  • Quality assurance: correct image annotation, laterality, and presentation state.
  • Submit work orders for equipment downtime and related tasks.

Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Radiology Job Family Allied Health Work Shift Evenings (United States of America) Summary Perform all radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures for the diagnosis of specific diseases or conditions.

Major Job Functions

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Perform all procedures designated with the Diagnostic Section of Radiology Assess patient, review physician order or patient chart as appropriate Prepare patient for the procedure, answer any questions or refers questions to the radiologist assigned Take all appropriate steps to minimize discomfort during radiographic examinations and provide privacy of the patient Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist Provide safe environment to include, but not limited to radiation exposure, infection control guidelines and Universal Precautions Comply with Radiation Protection Plan, including proper use of shielding and dosimeter usage Monitor timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals Perform QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality, and the correct presentation state) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation Submit work orders for Clinical Technology Services when equipment is down Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education and Formal Training: Associate’s degree from an accredited program in Radiologic Sciences required
  • ARRT (Radiography) registered required
  • New graduates that are registry eligible must be registered by ARRT in Radiography within 12 months of hire date required
  • Work Experience: 2 years of experience preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Good patient care, knowledge of growth and development and understanding of the range of treatment needed for all age groups
  • Physical Requirements: Much standing and walking Manual dexterity and visual acuity Mobility to assume awkward positions and respond to emergency situations Position may require coming in contact with skin, eye or mucous membrane and may come in contact with blood or other potentially infectious material Ability to bend and lift up to 100 pounds and carry objects up to 50 pounds #CFV-2026
