Job Title: X-ray Technologist

The X-ray Technologist is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations.

Responsibilities
  1. Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, shielding, selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operating equipment for specific procedures.
  2. Gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and ensure patient safety, based on patient needs or condition.
  3. Follow ALARA principles to restrict radiation beams, ensuring safe care for all patients.
  4. Perform portable x-ray examinations in various settings such as patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
  5. Identify patient images correctly with name and MRN#, and mark images appropriately.
  6. Process and reconstruct images using available methods.
  7. Maintain an orderly x-ray room, including managing supplies as directed.
  8. Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist providers with administration when necessary.
  9. Handle administrative duties like scheduling, patient instructions, record maintenance, and reception.
  10. Assist patients with mobility needs during procedures.
  11. Work scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, and participate in on-call duties as required.
  12. Adhere to hospital policies and standards, including employee ID, behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
  13. Greet patients using A.I.D.E.T. standards upon arrival.
  14. Perform daily clerical duties using hospital computer systems like EPIC, PACS, and Teletracking.
  15. Modify care based on patient demographics and needs, communicating effectively at their level.
  16. Follow organizational competencies and perform routine quality assurance checks.
  17. Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
  18. Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push/pull at least 50 lbs., and stand for at least 6 hours daily.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent.
  • Completion of an AMA-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
Licenses and Certifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification
  • NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (HCP) Certification within 60 days of hire
