Job summary

Penn Medicine's Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA, seeks a radiologic technologist to perform routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, ensuring patient positioning, contrast administration, and adherence to safety protocols.

You will collaborate with radiologists, document in the EMR, participate in education of students, and cover on-call shifts; sign-on bonus up to $5,000 and rotating shifts are available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Radiological Technology School.
• ARRT certification within 12–18 months depending on hire date.
• CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on position.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures with proper positioning and technique.
• Receive requests, check instructions, and consult with Radiologists as needed.
• Greet patients, verify identifications, and explain the procedure clearly.
• Operate hospital systems, document patient data in the EMR, and complete required paperwork.
• Completes examinations, billing procedures, and participates in on-call shifts.

LOCATION: Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster or various outpatient centers in Lancaster, PA

SIGN-ON BONUS: Qualified internal and external employees may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.00, based on weekly hours worked, with a two-year commitment. Shift differential and a weekend stipend are available. All positions have up to a 1-hour response time.

SCHEDULES:

• Full-time at LGH (36 hours/week), day shift OR night shift

• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (12-hour shifts)

• Up to 5 rotating on-call shifts per month

• Up to 3 holidays per year, provided the holiday falls on a scheduled workday

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs all routine diagnostic radiographic procedures through proper patient positioning, technique selection, application of immobilization and radiation protection devices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs all routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures through patient positioning, technique selection, administration of contrast media and application of immobilization and radiation protection devices as established by LG protocols, policies and procedures.
• Receives requests, checking for special instructions from the requesting physicians. Consults with Radiologists as necessary.
• Greets patients--confirming their identifications performing the correct procedures as directed and completely explaining the procedure to patient and family as directed.
• Operates and enters information through the hospital computer system. Documents required information and patient history in the electronic medical record. Documents other information as required.
• Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs POC testing, Universal Protocol and other paperwork as applicable.
• Accurately and appropriately utilizes all computer related equipment, such as the electronic health record, email and the intranet.
• May require travel to various site locations.
• Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Completes warm-up procedures for each radiographic room/equipment as assigned. Records quality control activities. Reports equipment conditions to immediate leadership or appropriate personnel.
• Compliance with OSHA and other mandated safety procedures or regulations.
• Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned workstation, rotating stock in an orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items.
• Participates in the clinical education of Radiology students as required.
• Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFCATIONS:

• Graduate of an AMA approved Radiological Technology School
• Certification in Radiological Technology, issued by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists: within eighteen (18) months of placement in position if hired/placed prior to 1/01/2024; within twelve (12) months of placement in position if hired/placed as of January 1, 2024.
• CPR certification is required.
