Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• Minimum of 6 months relevant experience.
• NYS License, ARRT certified.
• Current BLS required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deescalate stressful situations.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently.
• Proficient with computers including Electronic Health Systems, MS Excel, MS Word, email, etc.

• Perform X-rays and general radiologic procedures: review requests, position patient, select imaging options, and ensure quality.
• Assist radiologist with fluoroscopic studies and with opaque media administration.
• Operate and maintain radiology equipment; keep logs and perform QA.
• Handle clerical tasks related to acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
• Address service calls and follow up as needed; cover multiple sites with a flexible schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

Job Summary:

The X-Ray Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of X-ray images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the X-ray area.

Job Responsibilities:

• Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
• Perform X-rays and general radiological procedures:
  • Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist’s discretion, the referring physician.
  • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
  • Observe patient while in the X-ray area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
  • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
  • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
  • Assist radiologist with fluoroscopic studies.
  • Assist physician in administering opaque media.
• Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections.
• Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
• Address any service calls and follow up as required or as directed, based on operational need.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• A minimum of 6 months’ relevant experience.
• NYS License, ARRT certified.
• Current BLS required.
• Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
• Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule).

Hourly Rate Ranges: $42.03 - $54.93

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
