Job summary

Carbon Health is seeking a qualified X-ray Technologist for our X-Ray department. This full-time, hourly role performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations, working closely with radiologists and clinical staff to support accurate diagnoses while upholding radiation safety, infection control, and patient privacy standards.

Qualifications

  • Accredited Radiologic Technology program completed.
  • ARRT certification or eligibility with plan to obtain within required timeframe.
  • Current state radiologic technologist license or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
  • Proficient in performing routine diagnostic radiographic exams and operating digital X-ray equipment.
  • Knowledge of radiographic anatomy, positioning, exposure factors, and radiation safety.
  • Familiarity with PACS, RIS, and EMR systems or willingness to learn.
  • Clear and professional English communication, both verbal and written.
  • Strong patient-service orientation and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods and assist with patient/equipment handling.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of routine and specialized diagnostic X-ray examinations per orders and protocols.
  • Position patients safely and accurately to obtain optimal images while ensuring comfort and dignity.
  • Operate radiographic equipment, digital imaging, PACS, and EMR systems.
  • Verify patient identity, review requisitions, and confirm appropriate imaging procedures.
  • Apply radiation safety techniques and ALARA principles.
  • Assess image quality and repeat images when necessary for diagnostic adequacy.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies in a safe condition.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients and caregivers, addressing questions and concerns.
  • Assist with patient transfers and mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support timely care.
  • Document procedures and patient data accurately in medical records and imaging systems.
  • Follow departmental policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality control, equipment checks, and improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to urgent situations prioritizing exams based on clinical need, and support training of staff.

About The Role

The X-ray Technologist Full Time role in our X-Ray department is an hourly, full-time position responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner. Working closely with radiologists, providers, and other clinical staff, you will utilize modern imaging equipment to support accurate diagnosis and treatment while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety standards, infection control policies, and patient privacy regulations. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform a wide range of routine and specialized diagnostic X-ray examinations according to physician orders and established protocols
  • Position patients safely and accurately to obtain optimal images while ensuring patient comfort and dignity
  • Operate radiographic equipment and related systems, including digital imaging, PACS, and electronic health records
  • Verify patient identity, review requisitions, and confirm the appropriate imaging procedure prior to exam
  • Apply proper radiation safety techniques, including use of shielding and adherence to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles
  • Assess image quality and repeat images when necessary to ensure diagnostic adequacy
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, safe, and ready-for-use condition
  • Provide clear instructions to patients and caregivers, explaining procedures, addressing questions, and alleviating concerns
  • Assist with patient transfers and mobility, using safe patient-handling techniques and equipment as needed
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support timely, coordinated patient care
  • Document procedures, patient information, and technical data accurately and promptly in the medical record and imaging systems
  • Follow all departmental policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in quality control, equipment checks, and departmental performance improvement initiatives
  • Respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations, prioritizing exams based on clinical need
  • Support training and orientation of new staff, students, or cross-training personnel as requested

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Current ARRT (R) certification, or eligibility and commitment to obtain within required timeframe
  • Current state radiologic technologist license (if applicable by jurisdiction), or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe
  • Proficiency in performing routine diagnostic radiographic exams and operating digital X-ray equipment
  • Working knowledge of radiographic anatomy, positioning, exposure factors, and radiation safety practices
  • Familiarity with PACS, RIS, and electronic medical record systems, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong patient-service orientation with the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and age groups
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and move patients and equipment with appropriate assistance, and perform repetitive motions
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced setting
