Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY seeks a Registered Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic examinations during pain management interventional procedures. This role requires independent judgment and safe operation of imaging equipment.

Responsibilities include patient and room preparation, proper data entry, image labeling, maintaining records of fluoroscopy time, and assisting physicians. Must meet NYS RT, ARRT, BLS, and fit-test standards. Evening shift with alternating weekends.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist in NYS.
  • ARRT Certification.
  • OHS Fit Test and Annual Assessment.
  • BLS certification.
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree.

Scheduled Daily Hours: 7 HOURS

Hourly Rate: $49.41

Job Summary

Under the direction of the chief technologist or his/her designee, performs radiographic examinations during pain management interventional procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis.

Essential Functions

Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required

Patient and Room Preparation:

  • entering patient data into computer systems as necessary.
  • Printing
  • Ensure assigned room is properly equipped with linen.
  • Move patient into procedure room either on stretcher, wheelchair or ambulating.
  • Assist in transfers of patient to x-ray table if necessary.
  • Error free data entry in computer systems.
  • Room turnaround time of 5 minutes after completion of previous case (this may also depend on other support services i.e. housekeeping).
  • Ability to work in parallel so that nursing, medical, and technological staff are efficient.

Obtain radiographic images:

  • the proper setting of exposures factors and proper positioning of the patient including immobilizing devices if necessary to obtain high quality images for physician.
  • patient position are under the control of the technologist with direction from physician performing procedure and established protocols.

Correct labeling of all radiographic images:

  • the proper use of the patient identification labels and side markers for identification of each print.
  • Error free labeling of all images with patient identification label and side markers.

Maintain all necessary records of films, fluoro time, etc.:

  • Error free documentation of necessary records.

Observe all rules and regulations regarding patient identification and radiation safety for patients and staff:

  • Error free observance of radiation safety procedures.
  • Zero tolerance for misidentification and/or misadministration.

Assist physician if required in the administration of contrast material:

  • the preparation of contrast material in syringes and other equipment necessary for injection.
  • Error free preparation of contrast material.

Train students:

  • Knowledgeable information while training other associates and students.

Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area:

  • Clean and orderly work area.

Perform other related assigned tasks.
