Job summary

University Orthopedics in East Providence, RI is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform X-ray examination procedures as directed by providers. The role requires accurate patient and anatomy identification, adherence to protocols, and maintenance of equipment and rooms.

Flexibility to cover additional locations and shifts is preferred. The ideal candidate has two years of formal radiologic training, ARRT registration (or pending), and CPR/BLS certification, with strong communication skills

Qualifications

  • Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT registration or pending registration.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics for safe radiologic procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients across ages.
  • One year of customer service experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Special consideration for orthopedic clinical experience.
  • Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report malfunctions to the lead technologist.
  • Properly identify and prepare patients and perform x-ray exams following established protocols and procedures.
  • Accurately select the correct patient, anatomy, and protocols to complete exam.
  • Confirm, schedule and log completed radiologic procedures in computer and site schedules.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms at all times.
  • Stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Reports To: Diagnostic Imaging Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the general supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor and/or Lead technologist, this position will perform X-Ray examination procedures requested by University Orthopedics (UOI) providers. The work in this position contributes to patient’s overall successful interaction within the office. Exceptional people skills are needed. Must have flexible availability to cover additional locations or shifts if needed.

Essential Job Functions:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (R) (ARRT) registration or pending registration
  • Current CPR/ BLS certification
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic x-ray procedures.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics necessary to safely perform x-ray exams.
  • Basic knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Basic understanding of computer functions necessary to perform x-ray exams
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide routine diagnostic imaging procedures to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with consideration to cultural and developmental stages during the exam process.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with providers, staff, patients, and families
  • One year of customer service experience in a health care setting is preferred
  • Special consideration given for prior orthopedic clinical experience.
  • Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary .
