VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER & CLINICS in Renton, WA, seeks an X-Ray Technician Non-Registered to perform diagnostic radiographs under supervision and assist with fluoroscopy procedures per department policy.

Prerequisites include enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program (second year), ARRT eligibility or enrollment, WA XT license, and current AHA BLS certification; hospital practicum experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Second-year student with completed x-ray competencies.
  • ARRT registry eligibility or enrollment in ARRT program; must obtain RT(R) within 12 months of hire.
  • Washington State XT license required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently produce quality radiographs in interventional, trauma, OR, portables, C-arm, diagnostic exams.
  • Assists physicians during procedures including sterile setup and fluoroscopy.
  • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Follow ALARA radiation protection standards.
  • Document equipment problems and initiate service calls to biomed.
  • Provide documentation of professional credentials and maintain education records.
  • Transport patients and equipment safely as needed.
  • Take on-call responsibilities and respond within 30 minutes when notified.
  • Utilize PACS systems and modern computer/equipment systems.
  • Document pertinent clinical history and symptoms.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TITLE: X-Ray Technician Non- Registered

JOB OVERVIEW: An X-Ray Technician Non- Registered Student is responsible for performing diagnostic radiograph under limited supervision, as well as assisting physicians with diagnostic fluoroscopy procedures in accordance with department policy and procedure.

DEPARTMENT: Radiology

WORK HOURS: Variable by shift

REPORTS TO: Radiology Director or Manager

Prerequisites

Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program required. Student must be in second year of program and have completed all x-ray competencies and able to function under limited supervision.

Eligible to take ARRT registry or enrolled in an ARRT accredited program. Must obtain ARRT RT(R) within 12 months of hire.

Washington State license as X-Ray Technician (XT license) required.

Previous hospital experience via clinical practicum through an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.

Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Unique Physical/Mental Demands, Environment And Working Conditions

Requires working as part of a team at the direction of the Director or Manager or Lead to maintain effective operation of Radiology Services and facilitate efficient patient care. Includes handling, lifting and transferring patients and equipment, standing, walking, and effectively communicating with staff, providers and patients. Requires wearing lead aprons weighing 8 to 10 pounds. Requires transporting patients of varying size and weight via stretcher or wheelchair. Requires operation of wheeled C-arms weighing 500 pounds as well as moving portable equipment around the facility. Requires working under changing conditions, depending on the schedules. Includes the potential for exposure to body fluids, radiation, and other conditions common to a hospital environment.

Essential Responsibilities And Competencies
  • Consistently produce quality images in a variety of settings, i.e. interventional, trauma, OR, portables, C-arm, diagnostic exams.
  • Assists physicians during procedures to include setting up sterile trays, providing patient support, fluoroscopy.
  • Develop/maintain respectful relationships with all customers, both internal and external.
  • Follows radiation protection standards and practices ALARA.
  • Document equipment problems in service logs and initiates service calls to biomed.
  • Provide documentation of professional credentials proof of registry eligibility. Maintain education records including State and National credentials.
  • Transports as necessary utilizing all appropriate safety resources.
  • Takes on-call responsibility as required and arrives within 30 minutes of notification.
  • Participates in utilization and support of the PACS systems.
  • Utilize and maintain competency in organizations current computer and equipment systems.
  • Responsible for documenting pertinent clinical history and symptoms.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
