Job summary

Akumin is seeking a part-time X-Ray technologist for our Sarasota and Port Charlotte facilities. You will perform radiographic imaging, ensure patient safety, and maintain high quality standards while providing compassionate patient care.

You may work across freestanding centers, a mobile coach, or hospital-based settings, with flexibility to cover multiple locations. Requirements include ARRT (R) certification and state license if applicable, a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS, completion

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• ARRT (R) and state license, if applicable.
• BLS from AHA/ARC or ACLS where applicable.
• Radiology School completed.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Strong customer service and organizational skills.
• Basic computer applications knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams per physician orders.
• Ensure patient safety and competency with X-ray equipment.
• Train and orient radiologic technologists.
• Maintain quality and meet customer expectations through teamwork and process improvement.
• Communicate effectively with patients, radiologists and peers; uphold HIPAA confidentiality.
• Operate EMR, PACS and DICOM systems; troubleshoot and ensure timely image delivery.
• Complete annual site competencies and other duties as assigned.

We are currently hiring for a X-Ray at our Sarasota and Port Charlotte facilities. This will be a Part Time position.

Our X-Ray use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality X-Ray images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and - consistent with all applicable legal requirements and restrictions- exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure.
• Responsible for patient safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications, aseptic injection technique etc. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency of differing X-ray equipment.
• Train and orient new technologists new Radiologic Technologists.
• Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach.
• Effectively communicates with patients, radiologists and peers. Demonstrates the ability to use all channels of communications to address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict. Maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patients, family and staff in compliance with HIPAA.
• Demonstrate proficiency of the company’s EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation. Trouble-shoots the x-ray unit and all peripheral equipment (including computers, PACS, etc.). Ensure images are sent timely and proactively address any additional workflow requirements that could delay interpretation impacting turnaround time.
• Complete annual and on-going education and site specific competencies/in-services as designated by leadership.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
• ARRT (R) and state license, if applicable.
• BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) or ACLS, where applicable.
• Successful completion of a Radiology School.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
