Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Part Time X-ray/Dexa Technologist for our Sarasota and Port Charlotte facilities. The role focuses on producing high-quality X-ray images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

You will work across freestanding centers, mobile units, and hospital-based settings, with emphasis on accurate orders, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork. The ideal candidate has ARRT certification, state license if applicable, BLS, and radiology training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• ARRT (R) and state license, if applicable.
• BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or ARC or ACLS, where applicable.
• Successful completion of a Radiology School.
• Ability to work at several locations.

Responsibilities

• Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and ensure safety and compliance.
• Train and orient new radiologic technologists.
• Maintain image quality and consistency to meet customer expectations.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
• Trouble-shoots the x-ray unit and peripheral equipment and addresses workflow needs to avoid delays in interpretation.
• Complete annual and site-specific competencies/in-services as designated by leadership.

This will be **a Part Time** position.Our **X-Ray** use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality X-Ray images/studies possible—enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.**Specific duties include, but are not limited to:*** Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and - consistent with all applicable legal requirements and restrictions- exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure.* Responsible for patient safety, including pre-screening for contra-indications, aseptic injection technique etc. Knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency of differing X-ray equipment.* Train and orient new technologists new Radiologic Technologists.* Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach.* Effectively communicates with patients, radiologists and peers. Demonstrates the ability to use all channels of communications to address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict. Maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patients, family and staff in compliance with HIPAA.* Demonstrate proficiency of the company’s EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation. Trouble-shoots the x-ray unit and all peripheral equipment (including computers, PACS, etc.).
