Job summary

Nabors Career Site is seeking a Derrickhand in Casper, Wyoming to ensure the operation of the mud module and assist the Driller. This full-time position requires at least 3 years of rig experience and the ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.

The Derrickhand will work closely with the Rig Manager and is responsible for preventive maintenance, supervising the Floorhand, and ensuring safety protocols during drilling operations. Strong physical stamina and familiarity with rig functions are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years rig experience as a Floorhand or Motorhand for Nabors or 1 year of experience as a Derrickhand for another drilling.

The Derrickhand is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and support function of the mud module (sack area, mud pumps and mud pit / shakers). The Derrickhand works under the direction / supervision of the Driller, but reports directly to the Rig Manager.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Preventive maintenance and general repairs to the mud pumps and associated equipment including changing out the mud pump liners, as requested by the Driller or the Mud Engineer. Ensuring the chemicals and mud mixture (properties) is of sufficient type and quantity to meet the needs of the drilling operations. Direct and supervise the Floorhand assigned to assist with the sack handling or the shakers. Perform the general housekeeping, maintenance and upkeep of the equipment in the chemical / mud pits / mud pumps. Assisting the Driller with raising and lowering drill pipe on and off the hole during tripping operations. Essential Functions: Must have good short and long term memory and the mental stamina to stay alert and attentive for up to 12‑hour tour. Must be able to work 7 or 14 days on and 7 or 14 days off, including holidays, weekends and nights. Must respond efficiently to instructions from the Mud Engineer, Driller or Rig Manager. Must regularly weigh the mud, analyze viscosity and measure barrels gained or lost every half hour. Must climb stairs and ladders repetitively and work while suspended upwards of 90 feet above the rig floor in a riding belt. Must work comfortably 140+ feet above the rig floor. Must stand and walk up to 4 hours at a time, including on steel decking, gravel, board roads, mud, snow and ice. Must lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs up and down stairs, and swing 20‑lb sledge hammers or torque on wrenches/valves up to 160 lbs of torque. Must bend, stoop, kneel, twist and crawl throughout the shift while wearing personal protective equipment. Assist the Rig Manager with troubleshooting and problem solving in a decisive manner. Work above the drilling floor, on the monkey board, guiding the drill pipe during the tripping‑in/tripping‑out process, wearing proper safety equipment. Other duties as required by the Rig Manager.
