Job Responsibilities

• Perform various duties related to patient care and treatment as directed by attending providers in an outpatient clinic setting.
• Provide clerical and clinical support to medical staff in the assigned unit.
• Assist providers with requisitions, forms, and test result availability.
• Administer prescribed medication under supervision.
• Perform tests and examinations of specimens.
• Document and report test results to medical providers.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating patient appointments and procedures.
• Ensure medical records and test results are complete and available for visits.
• Support inventory management of supplies and equipment.
• Assist with maintaining and updating medical records and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Hired prior to March 3, 2024:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program, Med Ed Program, or one year of clinical experience.
• West Virginia criminal background check and federal checks if applicable.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months.

Hired on or after March 3, 2024:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program, Med Ed Program, or one year of clinical experience.
• West Virginia criminal background check and federal checks if applicable.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registration or certification in relevant medical fields.
• One year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in patient care.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Must be able to lift 40+ lbs, stand or walk for extended periods, and respond quickly to varying demands in a clinical environment. Work involves exposure to biohazards and communicable diseases.
