Job summary

Stand Together is seeking a Writer on the Grassroots Editorial Team to craft blogs, emails, and advocacy materials for English- and Spanish-speaking audiences. The role centers on translating policy ideas into accessible messages for community members, activists, lawmakers, and coalition partners.

You will manage the LIBRE Initiative’s editorial calendar and contribute to Stand Together campaigns, with emphasis on policy, elections, economy, and health care.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional writing experience in advocacy/policy communications, or journalism, nonprofit, or mission-driven communications.
• Spanish-language writing ability is required, with experience engaging Hispanic audiences preferred.
• Strong editorial judgment, accuracy, brevity, and ability to connect daily tasks to broader strategies.

As a Writer on the Grassroots Editorial Team, you’ll help The LIBRE Initiative communicate clearly and effectively with Hispanic communities across the country. LIBRE empowers Latino Americans to build a freer, more prosperous future by advancing policy solutions that expand opportunity and improve people's lives.

In this role, you’ll lead LIBRE’s editorial calendar and written content while writing blogs, emails, web content, and grassroots advocacy materials for English- and Spanish-speaking audiences. You’ll translate complex policy ideas into accessible, culturally relevant messages that help community members, grassroots activists, lawmakers, and coalition partners understand key issues and take action.

This is primarily a LIBRE-focused role, though you may also support related grassroots editorial priorities across the Stand Together community, like Americans for Prosperity.

This role requires 3+ years of professional writing experience in advocacy/policy communications, or in journalism, nonprofit, or mission-driven communications with a strong policy/advocacy focus. Spanish-language writing ability is required, and experience writing for Hispanic audiences is preferred. You should bring strong editorial judgment, accuracy, brevity, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to connect daily writing needs to larger communications strategies and organizational goals.

How You Will Contribute

• Write high-impact content, including emails, blog posts, direct mail, reports, and event communications that inspire grassroots advocates and donor audiences.

• Develop content that clearly conveys Stand Together’s and AFP’s perspectives on key issues like elections, the economy, health care, immigration, and the role of government.

• Collaborate effectively with a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset to develop strategic content for key initiatives, often on tight deadlines.

• Adapt to evolving priorities with a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to results.

What You Will Bring

• 3+ years of professional writing experience, preferably in grassroots politics, journalism, or political communications, including elections-related work, with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and a strong attention to detail.

• Proven ability to simplify complex policy and strategic concepts into compelling, audience-tailored, and culturally-relevant narratives across formats and platforms, aligned with brand voice and content strategy.

• A collaborative, cross-functional mindset, with experience navigating fast-paced, matrixed environments, defining deliverables, managing competing priorities, and consistently meeting deadlines while staying in close communication with our partners at LIBRE.

• Strategic insight and entrepreneurial drive, with a deep understanding of the state and federal policy and political landscape of the Latino community, and the ability to connect daily writing tasks to long-term organizational impact.

75000 - 100000 USD a year

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $75,000–$100,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee’s overall contribution to the organization.

Compensation decisions are informed by a variety of factors, including relevant experience, capabilities, demonstrated skills, role responsibilities, and expected contribution. Consistent with this approach, base salary may vary within or outside of the anticipated range based on these considerations.
