West River Ice Center is a Dickinson Parks & Recreation owned and operated facility located adjacent to the West River Community Center.

PUBLIC SKATE SEASON

SEASONS:

FALL/WINTER: Sept 6, 2024 – Mar 16, 2025

*afternoon sessions start on Oct 5.

SUMMER: May 31-August 17, 2024

*Hours subject to change. All changes to the normal schedule will be posted below. On days when the public schools are not in session, public skate will be held from 1:30-3:30 pm (some exceptions apply).

ADMISSION :

• $5.00 (Ages 6+) | 5 & under are free

PUNCH CARDS:

• 15 Sessions = $65.00
• 15 Sessions + Skate Rental = $104.00

TODDLER SKATE

Join us for Toddler Skate, meant for families with younger children, giving exclusive access to ice time without the older kids.

DAY/TIME: Sundays 12:00-1:00 pm

We offer special events throughout the season. We have a fun Halloween Skating Party and a New Year’s Eve celebration.

PUBLIC SKATE RULES

• Control your speed, giving right of way to those in front of you. Weaving in and out of other skaters is prohibited.
• Sitting on the boards or entering the player's benches is prohibited.
• Playing tag or tossing clothes or other objects is prohibited.
• Throwing debris or spitting on the ice is prohibited. Profanity, bullying, and abusive behavior is not allowed.
• Hockey sticks or pucks are not allowed on the ice during public skate.
• Only individuals with skates are allowed on the ice. No shoes permitted on the rink surface (exceptions may apply).
• Skating while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.
• Electronic devices and cell phones may not be used while on the ice. If taking a picture, please stop skating and move to the edge of the rink.
• Skate Buddies may be used by novice skaters only. Used only for assistance.
• Food or drink is not allowed on the ice.
• Ice Rink Attendants may issue time-outs to anyone who repeatedly violates rules. Severe infractions may result in suspension from facility use by management.
• Rules are subject to change; all rules are not listed. Any behavior deemed unsafe or inappropriate will not be tolerated.

FACILITY AMENITIES

West River Ice Center (WRIC) consists of two arenas and a large community room available for rentals year-round. WRIC is also home to theDickinson Hockey Club. During the ice season, the facility is used primarily for the Dickinson Hockey Club along with Dickinson Parks & Recreation’s public skate season. During the off-ice season, this is a great facility to host educational seminars, conventions, trade shows, special events, and more.

PUBLIC SKATE
The public skate season runs from mid-September to mid-March each year (see more information on this page).

CHARBONNEAU ARENA (Main Arena)
Charbonneau Arena consists of a large arena with a seating capacity of 1,000. Indoor ice season is held at end of September through the first week in March.

CORNERSTONE ARENA (Auxillary Arena)
Cornerstone Arena has a seating capacity of 300. Indoor ice season runs year-round.

PIZZA RANCH COMMUNITY ROOM
During public skate hours, the community room is available for birthday party rental. This room is also available for other private rentals (see below).

PRIVATE RENTALS
Groups interested in renting the West River Ice Center for private ice time or off-ice season events such as meetings, educational seminars, conventions, shows, etc. can reserve the facility by contacting Dickinson Parks and Recreation at 701-456-2074 during normal business hours.
