Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, Oregon is seeking a Wrestling Program Safety Coach to support the district’s athletic objectives and uphold the Athletic Code. The role focuses on supervising activities, enforcing regulations, and coordinating with the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

Ideal candidates will have coaching experience, strong communication with students and staff, and willingness to complete a background check.

Qualifications

  • Experience in and/or knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, and student supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with student/athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and staff in both verbal and written forms.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Successful completion of background check

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated duties assigned by the head coach.
  • Be knowledgeable of and implement the planned system and style of play as established by the head coach.
  • Enforce all athletic regulations and propose improvements through the head coach to the athletic director and principal.
  • Attend meetings and professional developments organized by the head coach, athletic director, or principal.
  • Demonstrate proper active supervision during all scheduled activities including game, practice, locker room, and transportation.
  • Maintain knowledge of skill development, training techniques, fundamentals, game strategy, and sport rules.
  • Be responsible for care and distribution of District equipment and supplies.
  • Communicate with athletes respectfully and avoid profanity or derogatory language.
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports to encourage multi-sport participation.
  • Practice professional conduct during events and practices.
  • Cultivate a respectful working and learning environment.
  • Handle program finances in line with District practices.
  • Report any conduct violations within 24 hours to the Athletic Director

Position title: Assistant Coach

Immediate Supervisor: Head Coach/Athletic Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The job ofSafety is to support the Forest Grove School District athletic objective, policy of interscholastic athletics, and Forest Grove School District Athletic Code. The District believes that extra-curricular activities are an integral part of school life. All students, regardless of their ability should take part if possible to be able to grow physically, intellectually, and socially through participation. Coaches organize and conduct the athletic programs to meet the needs of the school District and their participants.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform delegated duties assigned by the head coach
  • Be knowledgeable of and implement the planned system and style of play as established by the head coach
  • Enforce all athletic regulations and take initiative in making proposals for improvement in the program through the head coach to the athletic director and principal
  • Attend meetings and professional developments organized and conducted by the high school head coach, athletic director, or principal
  • Demonstrate proper active supervision during all scheduled activities or student/athletes including, but not limited to, game, practice, locker room, and transportation
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of skill development, training techniques, fundamentals, game strategy, and the rules of the sport
  • Be responsible for the care, distribution, and collection of District equipment and supplies
  • Communicate with athletes in a manner that models respect. Refrain from using profanity or derogatory language at participants, officials, parents or others associated with the program
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, athletes, parents, and staff throughout the program and school
  • Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports by encouraging athletes to play more than one sport
  • Practice professional conduct during events and practices
  • Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
  • Handle program finances that align with the current District practice
  • Report any conduct that violates the physical, mental or emotional safety of anyone involved in the program within 24 hours to the Athletic Director

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in and/or knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, and student supervision
  • Ability and willingness to successfully communicate with student/athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and other school staff in both verbal and written forms
  • Ability to perform coaching responsibilities in accordance with school and District procedures and policies
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
  • Current Concussion Management and updates on all other OSAA requirements
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others
  • Successful completion of background check
