Job summary

Waters Truck and Tractor in Columbus, MS, is looking for a skilled technician to assemble, repair, and maintain industrial trucks and wreckers in accordance with dealership and factory specifications. Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently and possess knowledge of light and medium-duty trucks.

Qualifications

• Technical school degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Must have good knowledge of basic hand tools.
• Must have general knowledge of Light / Medium duty trucks.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, repair, and maintain industrial trucks and wreckers.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain necessary parts.
• Document all work performed on the repair order.

Skills

Experience assembling bodies on trucks/vehicles

Knowledge of basic hand tools

General knowledge of Light / Medium duty trucks

Ability to read a tape measure accurately

Education

Technical school degree

Six months to one year related experience

WATERS has been a family-owned business for over 80 years (currently in its 4th generation), opening our doors in 1938. We are a dealer for International Trucks and IC School Buses (Prestige Certified), Collins Buses, Maintainer Service Trucks/Bodies, Jerr-Dan Wreckers/Carriers, Idealease Truck Rental/Leasing, several different Trailer Lines, and all the parts and services that go with them. We also have several contracts for plant and facilities maintenance. WATERS has 8 locations around Mississippi and as we continue to grow, we're looking to add dedicated team members to become a part of our family! This position is responsible for assembling, repairing, and maintaining industrial trucks / wreckers and their associated bodies according to dealership and factory specifications.

• Performs work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor/ dispatcher immediately if additional work is needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Road tests vehicles when required.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience assembling bodies on trucks/vehicles a plus
• Technical school degree OR six months to one year related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Must have good knowledge of basic hand tools
• Must have general knowledge of Light / Medium duty trucks
• Must have the ability to read a tape measure accurately
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
