Job summary

H&S Family of Bakeries is seeking a Packaging Manager to lead daily packaging operations, supervise a team, and uphold high standards of quality and efficiency across shifts. You will review run lists, verify codes and packaging accuracy, complete check sheets, and coordinate with the Packaging Manager, HR, and production teams to keep workflows smooth and safe.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend production materials, count and perform basic math.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of GMP and safety procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate manufacturing stages.
  • Familiar with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily packaging operations and manage the team.
  • Review production run lists for a smooth packaging process.
  • Verify codes, packaging accuracy, and product placement.
  • Complete check sheets and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness to meet customer demands.
  • Communicate with Packaging Manager and HR during shifts.
  • Cover manager duties during vacations.
  • Coordinate with Production and HR for safety and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with Production and Shipping to ensure smooth product flow.
  • Maintain GMP compliance and a safe work environment.
  • Lead accident investigations and champion safety.
  • Maintain clean work area and uphold housekeeping.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Take charge of the daily operations, overseeing your team and making sure our packaging game is top‑notch.
  • Review production run lists like a pro, ensuring everything is for a seamless packaging process.
  • Check and double‑check — verify that codes are correct, packaging is on point, and the right number of products is perfectly placed.
  • Be the paperwork guru, completing all assigned check sheets and ensuring everything is in order.
  • Make sure we meet customer demands with a smile—quality and timeliness are your middle names.
  • Keep the communication lines open with the Packaging Manager, addressing any issues that arise during your shift.
  • Step into the manager's shoes when they're on vacation—because the show must go on.
  • Foster positive vibes with the union and coordinate disciplinary actions with the Production Manager and HR department.
  • Team up with production and shipping managers to ensure our products flow smoothly and troubleshoot any hiccups.
  • Maintain a safe working environment—safety is our top priority.
  • Dive into accident investigations and champion employee safety across all operations.
  • Ensure your packaging team keeps the work area spick and span.
  • Always uphold proper Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.'s).
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Packaging Manager.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to problem solve and decision making.
  • Effective and diligent communication is required.
  • Must be able to generate clear and effective written correspondence.
  • Ability to analyze details and deadlines with appropriate information.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend production materials along with the ability to count and perform basic math.
  • Must be skilled in operating and examining production equipment for faults.
  • Must have general knowledge of how machinery works.
  • Have the ability to coordinate the different stages of manufacturing to ensure seamless operations.
  • Competent computer skills including MS Office Suite is a plus.
Requirements & Physical Demands
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Count, calculate, and keep up with machine speed through the rhythm of repetitive motion.
  • Be a plant ninja—move swiftly to all areas of the plant.
  • Have a sharp eye for quality control—size, shape, color, cut, you name it.
  • Speak the language of written and verbal communication with clarity.
  • Read, comprehend, and practice safety procedures like a safety superhero.Research, develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures.
  • Read and comprehend the production schedule.
  • Lift 50 pounds effortlessly and stand tall for long periods.
