The Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOC) Nurse provides evidence-based practice that incorporates a unique body of knowledge to provide excellence in prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, rehabilitative and palliative nursing care to persons with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. The WOC nurse directs efforts to improve quality of care to individuals of all ages directly through hands-on care and indirectly as educators and consultants.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Active NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License
  • Graduate of a NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing, minimum baccalaureate degree
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience
  • Certification by the WOC Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) in wound, ostomy and continence care required or must be obtained within 18 months of employment
  • Experience in nursing education; able to write and present oral presentations
  • Experience in performance improvement and/or quality initiatives
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Maintains WOCNCB certification every 5 years
