Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Raritan, NJ invites you to join the Wound Closure and Healing R&D Device Summer Intern program. This full-time internship runs May to August 2027, 40 hours per week, giving hands-on exposure to surgical device development and prototype testing.

You will assist engineers with CAD design in SolidWorks, perform mechanical and lab tests, document results, and help assemble prototypes while learning regulatory and quality practices within Ethicon Biosurgery.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate freshman year is required.
• Pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Biomedical, Bio-engineering, or related fields.
• GPA 2.8 or higher.
• Knowledge of CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of statistics preferred.
• Knowledge of 3D printing or prototyping methods preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous laboratory skills preferred, but not required.
• Generally requires 0-2 years work experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend team meetings as necessary.
• Perform mechanical and laboratory testing and post-testing analysis.
• Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to management.
• Assist in assembly of prototype devices.
• Create/Update parts, assemblies and drawings in CAD (SolidWorks).
• Write reports, test methods, protocols and other design control documentation.
• Complete engineering activities for multiple projects.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as needed.

We are searching for the best talent for Wound Closure and Healing R&D Device Summer Intern to be in Raritan, NJ.

• The Intern term is from May to August, 2027.
• Full time requirement (40 hours per week).

You will be responsible:

Assist engineers with various R&D job functions within active projects for Ethicon Biosurgery.

Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

• Attend team meetings as necessary.
• Perform necessary mechanical and laboratory testing, and post-testing analysis.
• Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
• Assist in assembly of prototype devices.
• Create/Update parts, assemblies and drawings in CAD (SolidWorks).
• Write reports, test methods, protocols and other design control documentation.
• Complete engineering activities for multiple projects.
• Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Bio-engineering, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• Knowledge of CAD Software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Knowledge statistics preferred.
• Knowledge of 3D printing or other prototyping methods preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous laboratory skills preferred, but not required.
• Generally Requires 0-2 Years Work Experience.
• No certifications/licenses required.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidate’s program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
