Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Biosurgery seeks a motivated Biosurgery LCM Intern for Raritan, NJ, May–August 2027. This full-time 40-hour week internship focuses on lab testing, documentation, and lifecycle management of medical devices.

You will work in a cross-functional environment, gaining hands-on lab experience, data analysis, and regulatory documentation support while contributing to product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical, Chemical, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields.
• GPA 2.8+ across all coursework.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in medical device development or lab research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with data analysis and laboratory environments is preferred.
• Familiar with statistical tools (Minitab) and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory method evaluation for medical device performance.
• Conduct experiments and analyze data to assess testing approaches.
• Document procedures, methods, and results per quality systems.

Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: The Biosurgery Product Lifecycle Management (LCM) team supports a portfolio of medical devices used in surgical procedures. As products evolve over time, maintaining an understanding of their design history, performance requirements, and documentation is essential to supporting innovation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This internship provides an opportunity to work in a cross-functional medical device development environment while gaining experience in laboratory testing, technical documentation, and product lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and evaluation of laboratory test methods used to characterize medical device performance.
• Conduct experimental studies and analyze data to assess testing approaches and product attributes.
• Develop and document laboratory procedures, test methods, and study results in accordance with quality system requirements.
• Review and organize historical product and technical documentation to support lifecycle management activities.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for process and documentation improvements.
• Present project findings and recommendations to technical stakeholders.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical, Chemical, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Interest in medical device development, product lifecycle management, or laboratory research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with data analysis and laboratory environments is preferred.
• Familiar with Statistical tools, Minitab, Excel is plus.
• Lab experience is a plus.
• R&D experience in school or internship/co‑op roles is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H‑1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
• Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long‑term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Pay Transparency

• The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience.
• Co‑Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan.
• Co‑Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year.
• Co‑Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
