Job description

Westland, A Villa Center is seeking a Wound Care Nurse LPN to join their team!! As a Wound Care Nurse LPN, you will provide each resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plan and as may be directed by management. This distinctive role will specialize in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders.

Wound Care Nurse LPN Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with patients who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores.
  • Evaluates & Provides treatment protocols to ward off skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well, because of other medical problems, such as diabetes or poor circulation.
  • Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
  • Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
  • Assists with the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
  • Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations
  • Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care.
  • Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care
  • Communicate/report information to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by facility policy and State/Federal guidelines.
  • Follows and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) compliance.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Wound Care Nurse LPNQualifications and Skills:

  • Must be CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification. Recognized organizations include the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Serves as the expert in Wound Care.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.

Wound Care Nurse LPN Education and Experience:

  • Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.
  • Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Long-Term care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
