Essential Functions of Wound Care Nurse / Infection Prevention (RN or LPN):
- Provide personal care to residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, in accordance with Company Clinical Policies and Procedures and state/federal regulations.
- Assess, treat, and care for residents with wounds such as pressure ulcers, ostomies, skin breakdowns, or other wounds. Tasks include wound debridement, cleaning, bandaging, and collaborating with the care team for treatment plans.
- Assess residents on admission and document appropriately as conditions change.
- Evaluate and manage residents’ pain, educate residents and families on pain management techniques.
- Interpret test results and take appropriate actions.
- Promote independence and support resident safety.
- Communicate resident status to oncoming staff and document thoroughly.
- Maintain a safe, clean, hazard-free environment.
- Ensure equipment is clean and functional; report malfunctions.
- Function as a team leader and role model.
- Follow Company policies for Abuse Prevention.
- Notify physicians of changes in resident condition and follow through on orders.
- Implement care plans based on assessments and interdisciplinary team goals.
- React decisively in emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of Wound Care Nurse / Infection Prevention (RN or LPN):
- Valid CPR Certification
- Current LPN or RN Missouri license
- 1 year of nursing experience in long-term care preferred
- Wound care experience preferred
- Infection Prevention certification preferred; employer provides education assistance to attain certification
- Maintain a working email and phone number for communication
- Effective communication skills with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to react quickly in emergencies
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism
