Job Overview

Responsible for providing consultative services to skilled nursing centers across Central Georgia related to wound, ostomy, and continence care. This includes direct consultation, orientation, training, program review, and recommendations to maintain effective care programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in integrating wound, ostomy, and continence care into patients' overall care plans.
  2. Monitor adherence to guidelines and best practices in wound care, ensuring proper equipment and supplies, and advise center Directors as needed.
  3. Participate in patient assessments and care planning meetings, including telemedicine consultations.
  4. Conduct on-site visits based on center needs.
  5. Educate health team professionals and family members on skin care techniques.
  6. Orient new nurses to treatment protocols.
  7. Review nursing staff competence and make necessary adjustments.
  8. Ensure compliance with wound, ostomy, and continence guidelines.
  9. Recommend equipment and supply needs to center management.
  10. Engage in ongoing educational activities to stay current in the field.
  11. Perform additional duties to support the organization’s success.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. BSN degree and RN licensure in Georgia or a compact state.
  2. Certified Wound Care Ostomy Nurse (WOCN).
  3. At least two years of experience as an Enterostomal Therapy Nurse.
  4. Proven skills in wound assessment and consulting.
  5. Effective teaching and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  6. Willingness and ability to travel throughout Georgia.
