A leading health and retirement community in Georgia is seeking a Wound Care Consultant to provide expert consultation and training to skilled nursing centers. Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia or compact state.
  • Ability to travel throughout Georgia as needed.

Job description

Responsible for providing consultative services to skillednursing centers across Central Georgia related to wound, ostomy and continencecare. Serves to provide direct consultation, orientation and training, programreview and recommendations for centers to maintain an effective wound, ostomyand continence care program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists in incorporating wound, ostomy andcontinence care into the patient's total plan of care
  • Monitors the skilled nursing center wound careprogram adherence to guidelines and best practices, properly working equipment,adequate and appropriate supplies; provide recommendations to the skillednursing center Director of Nursing and Administrator as needed
  • Attends and participates in patient assessmentand care planning meetings as necessary including telemedicine consults
  • Provides center on-site visits as determined bythe needs of the skilled nursing center
  • Instructs other health team professionals andfamily members in the methods of assisting the patient to improve or correctcompromised skin
  • Orients new skilled nursing center treatmentnurses in their role
  • Reviews the competence of nursing personnelassigned to treatments and makes necessary adjustments / corrections as required
  • Monitors center compliance with wound, ostomyand continence guidelines
  • Makes recommendations to the skilled nursingcenter Administrator and / or Regional Vice President for Inpatient Services anyequipment and supply needs related to wound, ostomy and continence care
  • Attends and participates in continuingeducational programs designed to maintain knowledge of current practices in thefield of expertise, and support licensure and certification status
  • Performs other duties as necessary to ensure thesuccess of the System

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A minimum of a BSN with Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia or compactstate
  • Certified Wound Care Ostomy (WOCN)
  • Minimum two years of experience as anEnterostomal Therapy Nurse in a hospital, skilled nursing care center or otherrelated medical center
  • Demonstrated competence in the performance ofwound care assessment and consulting
  • Ability to teach and present information in apositive manner to audiences of varying educational background
  • Ability to travel throughout the State ofGeorgia as needed
