Provides wound, skin, and ostomy education to patients, family members, providers, and all other members of the health care team.

General Summary

Is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and if necessary, delegating patient care to a specified group of patients. Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals, and other staff to ensure the quality of care given. Provides care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, or geriatric patients (as defined in the unit scope of care). Utilizes knowledge of growth and development principles appropriate to the patient’s age to meet their unique physical and psychosocial needs. Involves appropriate parties (e.g., patient’s family or guardian, outside agencies) in assessment, treatment, and continuing care as needed.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum Licensure/certification Required

Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. BLS trained.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required

• Successful completion of a refresher nursing program if no direct patient care experience of at least 1000 hours within the past 5 years.
• Demonstration of acceptable medication administration performance within the probationary period.
• Basic computer skills, including data entry and retrieval.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
• Visual and auditory acuity.
• Ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately.

Working Conditions

May require lifting up to 35 pounds, pushing, pulling, and moving patients and equipment. Must be able to bend and kneel. Ability to use a computer for periods during the shift, depending on the position.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Director of Senior Services.
