Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. is seeking a skilled Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to accurately code, bill, submit and monitor claims for wound care services across skilled nursing facilities and other contracted settings.

The role requires strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare Part B, and payer policies, with a focus on documentation quality, HIPAA compliance and timely reimbursement. You will work with nurses, clinicians and leadership to ensure that documentation supports

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of direct medical billing and coding experience in outpatient or hospital settings, preference for wound care coding.
• Strong medical terminology and medical-record review skills.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Preferred active credentials such as CPC or CCS; experience with Long Term Care billing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze medical charts and patient records to abstract relevant clinical details.
• Assign alphanumeric codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II systems for wound care services.
• Apply correct modifiers based on payer policies and guidelines.
• Identify coding/documentation inconsistencies and obtain clarifications when needed.
• Review medical necessity criteria against LCD/NCD where applicable.
• Verify insurance coverage, patient demographics and pre-authorizations prior to billing.
• Investigate denied claims to determine root causes and file formal appeals when needed.
• Manage aging accounts receivable by following up on delinquent balances.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and safeguard PHI; strive to reduce denials and improve clean-claim rates.
