Job summary

First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS seeks a Part-Time Sound Technician to provide house sound support for weekly services. You will set up equipment, run sound checks, mix live audio, and troubleshoot issues to ensure clear sound for congregants and musicians.

You will lead and train a volunteer team, coordinating with the Director of Music and the worship ministry to support Sunday services and other events.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with live sound reinforcement preferred or strong aptitude to learn.
• Ability to troubleshoot under time pressure during services.
• Ability to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers.
• Strong communication and collaboration with music ministry.
• Membership at First Presbyterian Church preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up sound equipment before services.
• Distribute wireless microphone units to ministers and leaders.
• Perform sound checks and monitor audio levels during services.
• Operate the soundboard and adjust levels as needed.
• Provide audio recording of services if needed.
• Troubleshoot feedback and equipment failures quietly during services.
• Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer operators.
• Coordinate with Director of Music and worship team.
