Job summary

Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Garner, NC seeks a part-time Director of Music to lead our traditional worship with organ and piano. The role requires collaborative work with the pastor and volunteers, and to guide congregational singing, select music, and supervise choir and volunteers.

The ideal candidate will have liturgical knowledge, proficiency in organ and piano, and a working faith within the ELCA; compensation is based on part-time hours (10–15 hours/week) with weddings/funerals

Qualifications

• Proficiency in organ and piano playing required.
• Experience conducting vocal ensembles/choirs and leading congregational singing.
• Strong collaboration skills with pastor, staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Pastor and Worship and Music Committee to select music aligned with the liturgical calendar.
• Provide organ and piano accompaniment for Sunday traditional worship and special services.
• Lead congregational singing and supervise choir rehearsals weekly.
• Schedule and coordinate special music from soloists or ensembles.
• Maintain music library and track copyright licenses (CCLI/One License).
• Attend staff and committee meetings as required.
• Be available for weddings and funerals with compensation negotiated.
