Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology in McLean, VA seeks a Systems Engineer Sr Principal to lead the architecture, engineering, and operation of a classified secure workstation enclave. You will ensure secure, reliable access to mission-critical systems and collaborate with security, engineering, and program stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of related experience, a BS, current Top Secret clearance, and DoD 8570/8140-compliant certifications; MECM experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (BA/BS).
• 10+ years of related systems engineering experience.
• Active Top Secret clearance required; DoD 8570/8140 compliant.
• Experience with AD, GPOs, security controls, and SSPs.
• Familiarity with DoD/Federal cybersecurity frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, engineering, and O&M of the classified workstation enclave.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and stakeholders to meet security and operational requirements.
• Implement and maintain secure workstation configurations using AD, GPOs, MECM.
• Develop test plans, briefs, and product recommendations.
• Support ConMon validation and annual security assessment prep.
• Update procedures, playbooks, and documentation for security controls.

As a Systems Engineer Sr Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customer’s classified workstation environment. You will play a crucial role in architecting, engineering, and operating a classified secure workstation enclave, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant access to mission-critical systems.

KEY DUTIES

• Lead and support the architecture, engineering, and O&M of the classified secure workstation enclave, includingActive DirectoryandGPOs, ensuring enclave integrity, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Lead, systems engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and stakeholders to design, build, configure, and sustain workstation services that meet stringent security and operational requirements.
• UtilizeActive Directory, GPOs, MECM, and core security controls (Identity & Access Management, Configuration/Change Management, Vulnerability Management) to implement and maintain secure, standardized workstation configurations.
• Review and improve system and process architectures; develop and deliver test plans, technical briefings, and product recommendations.
• Follow and update engineering procedures, artifacts, and playbooks for the workstation enclave and core security controls.
• SupportContinuous Monitoring (ConMon)validation andannual security assessmentpreparation and execution.

• Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
• Experience: 10+ years of related experience

Technical skills

• Hands-on engineering expertise with Active Directory and GPOs for workstation environments
• Experience supporting secure workstation enclaves
• Experience supporting maintenance of System Security Plans (SSPs), Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) packages, and audit/assessment documentation
• Familiarity with DoD or Federal cybersecurity frameworks
• Preferred: Hands-on engineering expertise with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)

Role requirements

• Security clearance level: Current and active Top Secret
• Onsite - Mclean, VA
• Must be DoD 8140 / 8570.01-M compliant (e.g., Security+ or equivalent)
