United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Worksite Tech Deployment Manager to lead field operations deploying robotic and autonomous solutions at customer sites and branches.
You will own end-to-end deployment, inventory and fleet readiness, and on-site commissioning while coordinating with vendors and branch teams. You will manage a field deployment team, establish playbooks, and optimize data-driven workflows using cloud platforms and AI partners.
Great company. Great people. Great opportunities. If you'd like the chance to make your mark with the world's largest equipment rental provider, come build your future with United Rentals! As Worksite Tech Deployment Manager, you will lead the field operation that deploys, services, and supports these solutions - from a self-driving compaction roller to autonomous layout, reality-capture drones, surveillance robots, and the tool-and-consumable delivery systems behind them. You will own the full operational chain - inventory and fleet readiness, logistics and forward deployment, on-site install and commissioning, service, and support - and lead the telematics field operations that keep the connected-equipment backbone running across the fleet.
Own end-to-end deployment of robotic and autonomous solutions at customer worksites and branches - planning, mobilization, install, commissioning, and handoff - delivering World-Class service at the project site. Build and lead a field deployment team (FAEs or PLSs), supplemented by qualified third‑party partners where surge capacity or specialized skills are needed. Establish repeatable playbooks for site readiness, safety, install standards, and commissioning so each deployment is faster and more reliable than the last. Operationalize worksite data by working with strategic cloud‑based construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Autodesk) and AI partners (e.g., Field AI) to put telematics and other worksite‑solution data to work in customer workflows and decision‑making. Be on‑site for priority deployments and events as needed, acting as the operational lead in concert with vendors and branch teams.
Manage inventory and fleet readiness for robotics, autonomous kits, and telematics/wearable devices - including add‑on "retrofit brain" kits stored and deployed centrally, and purpose‑built assets housed in divisional hubs. Inventory may be maintained at a UR branch or a regional third‑party logistics (3PL) partner depending on the solution and deployment footprint. Own the deployment logistics model end‑to‑end across both UR branch and 3PL‑held inventory: warehousing, staging, forward deployment to worksite‑adjacent locations, transport, and reverse logistics. Coordinate third‑party logistics and surge partners to stage and move equipment cost‑effectively, balancing internal capacity against variable partner support. Maintain accurate asset records in RentalMan and related systems, ensuring cat‑class, location, and status data integrity across the deployed fleet.
Deliver end-to‑end field service and support for deployed solutions, including Level 2 / Level 3 issue resolution and escalation of complex technical challenges. Partner closely with the Digital Support desk to maximize customer uptime and deliver an exceptional stakeholder and customer experience, coordinating field response with remote support and escalation. Drive service excellence through technician training and development, OEC/OECNA reduction, fluid and asset movement, and other enablers of deployment success. Build and maintain troubleshooting guides, install documentation, and operating standards that scale across regions.
Own all safety matters for deployment and field operations, promoting a culture of safety and discipline through leadership, exemplary personal compliance, accountability, and communication. Oversee safety audits and training for the deployment team and partners, including safe operation, transport, and commissioning of robotic and autonomous equipment on active worksites. Ensure regulatory compliance across field operations, including OSHA requirements, DOT regulations governing asset movement and transport, and drug‑and‑alcohol testing programs. Partner with vendors, OEMs, and customer EHS teams to align on site‑specific safety protocols for emerging and autonomous technology.
Lead telematics field operations across the fleet, overseeing device specification, installation, enablement, and data‑flow integrity. Supervise third‑party telematics vendors and OEMs to ensure high performance, compliance, and clean data feeding TotalControl and downstream systems. Drive fleet health and device utilization, partnering with IT to flag API or integration issues and mitigate downstream impact.
Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team of specialists, technicians, and analysts, including remote employees. Own budget accountability for deployment and telematics field operations, including cost controls, resource planning, and the build‑vs‑partner labor trade‑off. Manage vendor, OEM, and partner relationships to align capacity, roadmaps, and service levels with UR's deployment plans. Act as the operational liaison for National Accounts and key customers, and provide executive‑level reporting to Directors and VPs on deployment performance, readiness, and improvement plans. Participate in pre‑deployment planning and pilot prioritization, helping vet market need and technology readiness alongside the ASG team.
