Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking Workforce Specialists to implement services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group settings. The role includes assessments, program implementation, documentation, and training in self-help skills within residential units.

The position requires a high school diploma (bachelor’s degree may substitute) and emphasizes knowledge of laws, casework interviewing, and counseling.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in group settings (leisure, vocational, daily living skills).
  • Completes assessments and implements programs based on assessed needs.
  • Completes documentation including data on objectives, attendance, and payroll reports.
  • Provides training in self-help skills and serves as coverage staff in residential units.
  • Offers guidance to Direct Support Professionals in care and training of individuals with ID and special needs.
  • Ensures health, safety, and accountability of individuals.
  • Adheres to written rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

We are seeking Workforce Specialists who are motivated to help individuals and families navigate life's challenges and achieve long-term wellness.

  • Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group setting to include leisure, vocational, pre-vocational, and daily living skills.
  • Completes assessments, implements programs based on assessed needs.
  • Completes all documentation to include but not limited to data on objectives, attendance reports, individual and weekly payroll reports.
  • Provides training in self-help skills to consumers and serve as coverage staff in the residential units.
  • Offer guidance to Direct Support Professionals in the care, and training of individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
  • Ensures health, safety and accountability of individuals with disabilities.
  • Adheres to OIDD written rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

The positions for this posting are located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

A high school diploma and related experience. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Contingency

Immunization

If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan

In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
