Overview

CenterWell Home Health is seeking an Operations Research & Workforce Analytics Specialist to join our Data Driven Transformation team. This role focuses on applying advanced analytics and optimization techniques to improve staffing decisions across branch-level operations at a large home health agency. The candidate will use data science and operations research methodologies to recommend clinical staffing needs by skill type, pay type, and time type—ensuring efficient and scalable workforce planning.

The Home Health Workforce Planning Lead will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with HR, operations, clinical, and data teams to understand staffing requirements and operational constraints across branches.
  • Apply operations research techniques to model and optimize staffing needs by skill type (e.g., RN, PT, HHA), pay type (e.g., hourly, salaried), and time type (e.g., full-time, part-time, per diem).
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities in workforce deployment and productivity.
  • Develop and implement statistical models and optimization algorithms to support strategic staffing decisions.
  • Build dashboards and reporting tools to visualize staffing metrics and model outputs for stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of staffing models and make iterative improvements.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership through clear, data-driven storytelling.
  • Stay current with industry trends in healthcare staffing, operations research, and workforce analytics.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6 or more years of experience in workforce analytics, operations research, or healthcare staffing optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar simulation tools for modeling and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of optimization algorithms, statistical modeling, and simulation techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in home health or healthcare workforce planning.
  • Familiarity with staffing and scheduling platforms used in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in workforce optimization.
  • Understanding of regulatory and operational nuances in home health staffing.

Facilities, Travel and Work Environment
  • To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service must meet criteria: minimum download 25 Mbps and upload 10 Mbps; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection preferred. Satellite, cellular and microwave allowed only with leadership approval.
  • Employees in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota may receive bi-weekly internet expense reimbursement.
  • Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees will be provided with telephone equipment appropriate to meet business requirements.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$104,000 - $143,000 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
